England, 2004, 34m
Choreographer/Director Lloyd Newson of London's famed DV8 takes us to a faded seaside town where street performers David and Eddie struggle to find work and romance. A provocative film that hurls scalding humor at notions of how the fit and unfit are supposed to act.
DAMEN UND HERREN AB 65
Germany, 2003, 70m
Director/producer Lilo Mangelsdorff jumped at the chance to document the ladies and gentleman "over 65" who responded to an audition notice posted by Pina Bausch, the queen of European dance theatre to perform in a work made especially for them. Many of them had never danced a step, let alone taken orders; others fancied themselves dancers only to find themselves stumped by the challenge. This engaging documentary won the JURY PRIZE of Dance on Camera Festival 2004.
ZIMMER
Iceland,
8m, 2004
A short directed by Helena Jonsdottir with the idea of looking at a body as a landscape, specifically a fat male “couch potato.” We see an overweight man slouched in front of the television, sinking so deeply into an armchair that it appears to have become part of his own body.
