SATURDAY - Sept. 16
“Oatka Trail”Garth Fagan and Carvin Eison, USA, 2005; TELLY Award Winner 2006 -"The lyrical 1979 opus Oatka Trail [was] inspired by an old Seneca Indian Trail near Rochester, New York, performed to the music of Antonin Dvorak. This male trio reveals the innermost nature of Fagan's lyricism. It is a rare sensibility, without a hint of either sentimentality or prettiness. Oatka Trail also underscores Fagan's exceptional musicality,” Jamak Highwater. The performance was recorded during the summer of 2002 at Jacob’s Pillow, Becket, Massachusetts and in the Oatka Trail. Carvin Eison is director of photography and editor.

"Carmen & Geoffrey" - 2005 Honorary Jury Award -2004, U.S. - This documentary traces the spectacular lives and careers of Carmen de Lavallade and Geoffrey Holder. Among the dancers who appear on camera are Judith Jamison, Gus Solomons, Jr., Dudley Williams, Ulysses Dove and the great Alvin Ailey.

SUNDAY - Sept. 17
"The God"- Russia, 2003 - A humorous animated short that theorizes what might happen when an ancient deity of dance encounters the humblest of insects, a fly.

"Shadow Pleasures: The Cinnamon Peeler" - Jury Award Nomination, Canada, 2004 Michael Ondaatje’s reading of his sensual poem inspired this lush duet choreographed and directed by Veronia Tennant.

"Back to Kinshasa" - France, 2004 - An engrossing portrait of choreographer and dancer, Faustin Linyekula.  Included are excerpts of his newest works in which he explores his African/French heritage and identity through movement.

"Jean-Pierre Perreault: Giant Steps" - 2006 JURY WINNER - Canada, 2005 - A superb film about a Quebecois choreographer and the unique artistic legacy he leaves us. Perreault’s vision of a group of faceless average “Joe’s,” boot-clad and black-hatted, moving as a block of humanity through inhospitable space, made a profound impression on audiences.

MONDAY - Sept. 18
"Phoenix Dance" - 2006 Jury Prize Nomination, US, 2005 - Homer Avila, an extraordinary dancer who worked with Twyla Tharp, Bill T. Jones, Mark Morris and Momix, is the subject of this moving documentary by Karina Epperlein that features a duet created for him by San Francisco-based choreographer Alonzo King.

"The Cost of Living" - 2005 JURY WINNER , England, 2004 - Lloyd Newson of London's famed DV8 takes us to a faded seaside town where street performers David and Eddie struggle to find work and romance. A film that hurls provocations and scalding humor at notions of how the fit and unfit are supposed to act. THE COST OF LIVING sets itself apart by defining a potent new direction for the concept of dance for the camera.

"Valse Wals" - Netherlands, 2005 - Two veterans of wordless theatre
productions offer a duet by turns absurd, outrageous and poignant, exploring an embattled yet enduring relationship in ways that recall Buster Keaton and Becket simultaneously.

WEDNESDAY - Sept. 20

Set to a Spanish song, it follows a dark-eyed ballerina on a journey among strange objects through a desert landscape in a dreamlike atmosphere.

"Peep Show" - Robert Deleskie, Canada, 2002 - "[Peep Show] is an ingenious bit of screen work from the dance theatre duo David Danzon and Sylvie Bouchard doing a mock naughty duet in skin-tight PVC suits... In four minutes this performance video manages to be sexy, funny and aesthetically pleasing." Toronto Star

"Burst" - Reynir Lyngdal, Iceland, 2002 - Choreographer Katrin Hall
A couple fights until a water pipe comes to the rescue with its timely
explosion.

"Tap Heat" - Danny Daniels / Dean Hargrove, US, 2003 - A tap extravaganza illustrating two distinct tap styles; Award-winning tapper Jason Samuels Smith, raised on urban funk, and Arthur Duncan, elder statesman of sophisticated tap, are the two leads, supported by a great back-up team of tappers.

"Doze" - Henry Chalfant and Tony Silver, US, 2005 (excerpt) -Tony Silver and Henry Chalfant's STYLE WARS released in 1984 tackled the art and culture of graffiti.  DOZE is a fascinating excerpt from STYLE WARS REVISITED.

"From Mambo to Hip Hop" - Henry Chalfant and Tony Silver, US, 2005
There’s a postage stamp of an urban sidewalk known by people of a certain age for having burned to the ground. A more recent generation know it as the place where, out of the ashes hip hop and break dancing were born. An older generation remembers when this turf, The South Bronx, produced salsa. A testament to the neighborhood’s power to revitalize itself through music and dance and to take the world’s pop culture by storm.

THURSDAY - Sept. 21
